Updated 2026-11-03

What is The Elder Scrolls VI called?

The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. Todd Howard revealed the full title on November 3, 2026, at the end of a video celebrating 40 years of Bethesda Game Studios.

When does The Elder Scrolls VI come out?

Bethesda hasn't announced a release date. Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported in July 2026 that the game is at least two years away — no earlier than 2028. For the full picture, see the release date page.

Where is TES6 set?

The name-reveal teaser is attributed to a Moth Priest writing in Hammerfell, and The Verge reported on October 29, 2026 that the game is set in Hammerfell. The 2018 teaser had already pointed fans toward the province, though some argued for High Rock.

What platforms will it be on?

No platform list has been announced. Leaked Microsoft documents from the 2023 FTC trial projected Windows and Xbox, and Phil Spencer testified in June 2023 that platforms were undecided at that stage. See the platforms page for what that does and doesn't settle.

What engine does TES6 use?

Creation Engine 3. Bethesda confirmed in July 2026 that both The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 are being developed on it — a shared technology platform the studio has been building since Starfield's launch.

Who are Yazar and High Queen Iradne?

Two names introduced by the Sentinel reveal teaser. Yazar is described as a Moth Priest to High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell, writing in 4E 206. Nothing else about them has been officially revealed yet.

What is a Moth Priest?

In Elder Scrolls lore, Moth Priests belong to the Cult of the Ancestor Moth and are trained to read the Elder Scrolls — artifacts that record past, present and possible futures. Each reading costs a little of the reader's sight. The teaser's narrator being a Moth Priest ties the game directly to the Scrolls.

Is Skyrim still the latest Elder Scrolls game?

Skyrim (released November 11, 2011) remains the most recent mainline entry. It has sold over 65 million copies, according to Bethesda.

Will there be gameplay footage soon?

Nothing was shown with the name reveal — The Verge noted Bethesda isn't sharing more details yet. The studio said in July 2026 that the game is where it planned to be and that the team plays it every day, so further reveals are a matter of Bethesda's schedule.
