The Elder Scrolls VI officially has a name: Sentinel

Eight years after the first teaser, Bethesda finally named its next chapter: The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel.

What was announced

On November 3, 2026, Todd Howard revealed the full title — The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel — at the end of a video under ten minutes celebrating 40 years of Bethesda Game Studios. Howard called it the “perfect time” to name the game. Xbox Wire carried the reveal with the official logo, and Xbox CEO Asha Sharma posted: “SENTINEL is the next chapter of The Elder Scrolls.”

The subtitle had leaked days earlier: The Verge reported on October 29 that the game would be called Sentinel and set in Hammerfell. Bethesda’s own reveal confirmed the name.

The teaser text

The reveal closed with an official teaser passage, quoted here in full:

“The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate.” — Yazar, Moth Priest to High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell (4E 206). “Your next journey to Tamriel will be in The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel.”

What it tells us

Three hard names and a date: Yazar, a Moth Priest — a member of the order that reads the Elder Scrolls; High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell; and 4E 206, five years after Skyrim’s 4E 201. Nothing else about these characters is known, and the teaser doesn’t state that the entire game is set in 4E 206.

The Verge’s reporting adds the frame around it: the game is set in Hammerfell, and its main story focuses on the history of the Elder Scrolls themselves and uncovering the artifacts’ secrets — which makes a Moth Priest narrator a pointed choice.

What comes next

No release date, no platforms and no gameplay accompanied the reveal — The Verge noted Bethesda isn’t sharing more details yet. The next milestone to watch is a first look at the game itself.
